Challenge
Jerry Hall runs a tourist business – renting segways for people to explore the California coastline. He operates out of two locations – one in Monterey and the other in Santa Cruz. It was difficult for people to find him because online searches brought up a business that was no longer in operation, a Facebook listing for Monterey, but not Santa Cruz, and the business no longer in operation was appearing active and open. Jerry was overwhelmed and needed assistance overcoming the marketing obstacles and coming up with a strategy for his overall digital media marketing. When the pandemic hit, PPP funding was also required.

Gameplan
Jerry came to the Santa Cruz SBDC and was trained on all aspects of Google My Business. By the end of the session his profile was complete and he successfully posted two ads. He also attended an SBDC training about digital media marketing. In order to spur business, the SBDC made further recommendations and performed an SEO analysis to help him create a strong online presence. The SBDC also assisted him with his PPP loan.

Results
Jerry has hired six new full-time employees and retained five jobs. He also received  $5,337 in funding through the COVID-19 Paycheck Protection Program.
